Can Spirituality and Science Co-exist?

Before I go into my answer to the title question, I would like to make something clear. I am still learning so what I learn tomorrow could change my understanding of things today. However, my fundamental beliefs will never change. Things might get modified or clarified, but that should be it.

I want to thank all those who have left many nice comments on my Facebook page. However, some have not been very nice, but that is okay, everyone has to find their own way. If they are too bad, I delete them. I am just sharing what I have learned that has made my life better. If you do not like it, please move on.

Now, on to the point of this blog.  This idea came from one of the not so nice comments and involves more about last week’s blog, problem-solving.

After I posted this blog and looked again at the header picture, I had questions. Does God only solve simple problems?  Of course not. How many times have you struggled to find a solution to a problem, and when the answer came to you, you thought, Oh, how simple, why didn’t I think of that before. A problem is only difficult when we try to solve it on our own. When we believe we have to do it ourselves. When we listen for God’s help, the solution is always simple.

Some people think if someone believes in God, they cannot believe in science. On the other hand, some scientists believe you cannot mix religion and science. For me, this is not true; science and religion are not enemies. They just come from a different perspective. I believe in God, and think there is a need for science here. Many well-known scientists, including Einstein, believed in God. I find Einstein to be an interesting character. He said, “You can’t solve a problem from the same level of consciousness that created it.”

If God, Spirit, created the spiritual universe, then consider this. A problem created on the physical level of consciousness would need a spiritual level of consciousness to solve it. At least, that is where I go to solve my problems.

God is the universal problem solver. 🙂  I believe famous scientists that come up with fantastic solutions to problems must be listening to God, whether they know it or not. Discovery takes original thought, not taught in school. I believe original thoughts or ideas come from God.

Mind, with a capital M, is another word for God. Divine Mind, Divine Intelligence. As the image and likeness of God, we spiritually reflect His intelligence. However, how we demonstrate that intelligence here in this experience on earth can differ radically between individuals, that is because we all have different belief systems. Our experience here is directly related to our beliefs and understanding of who we are and what our relationship to God is.

As children, what our parents believe would be in control, but when we reach the age of reason, we take control of what we believe. That is why it is so important that children have kind, responsible, loving parents, so their children do not bring negative beliefs into their adult life. As an abused child, I brought negative beliefs into my adult life and lived with the consequences of them until I was about forty-five.

The creation story in Genesis II depicts man as created looking the way we do today. If I took that story literally, I could not believe in science. Back then, the idea of evolution was something foreign to them, so they wrote about what they knew then. Evolution from the amoeba to what we are today shows the growth of mortal consciousness. Mortal consciousness is what controls who we are in this experience. However, keep in mind that our spiritual growth is the most important. Knowing how mortal man evolved benefits us nothing, it is just an exciting story.

The sciences show us how far humanity has evolved in his understanding. Archeology, the scientific study of material remains, has uncovered evidence of intelligent beings as far back as 11,000 BC. Biblical History starts about 3941BC. Although we have outgrown the ape stage, we are still fighting the same old relationship problems. However, technological advances in the last two hundred years are astounding. All these technical individuals must have been listening to God for ideas and answers. Something must have happened, in human consciousness, two hundred years ago, that inspired these people to listen better. I must say again, what we need most is spiritual evolution, which will provide us with true peace, harmony, and freedom. It will change the world we live in.

None of the technical advances has changed humanity for the better. Yes, some individuals have advanced spiritually, but collectively humans are not the happiest animals on this planet. It is sad as we have so much potential.

I have discovered it does not take money or things to make me happy. Spiritually we are pure consciousness. In Spirit, there are no particles or waves to measure our reality. There is no up or down, no hot or cold, no weight or weightlessness, no past or future, as there is no time. These things are material measurements. It is hard to conceive of myself a pure consciousness, existing in the eternal now. However, I believe that is where we actually exist, in consciousness. As stated in Acts 17:28, “For in him we live and move and have our being;” God and man is one. Knowing this makes me happy.

Jesus made concessions to material methods, by saying, “suffer it to be so now” when it was for the advancement of spiritual good. Thou we live in the Spirit, we walk in the flesh. I do not know why or how we ended up here in this material experience, but we did. Now it is up to us, are we going to express our true God-like qualities here, as Jesus did, II Cor. 10:3, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:” or are we going to continue to mess up the chance we have to make it right? Gal. 5:25, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” I believe the people that follow my blogs are on the right path.

Spiritually we use metaphysics (prayer) to get ideas, which give us the human footsteps to solve scientifically our earthly problems, although, many earthly problems can be solved by changing our human behavior. Yes, Spirituality and Science can co-exist on this planet.

I wish I could be here a thousand years from now. I think we would be amazed at the changes in this world. Even if the people of this world destroy our planet, as we know it, I believe it will continue in some form. Consciousness will continue, and we would surely be surprised at what we look like in a thousand years. Our material bodies would have to accommodate likely changes in the atmosphere to survive.

That sure gives me something to think about, but I will resist focusing that far in the future, and make the best of the present. I want every day to be the best day of my life. I do that is by expressing God’s qualities and loving my neighbor. Those things save our planet. Technical advancements are the frosting on the cake. What good is the frosting if you have no cake?

I believe that one-day quantum physics will turn us to God. I also believe humanity will grow spiritually, and this world will one day represent God’s spiritual creation.
