“Progress is the Law of God”

Thirty years ago, I would have never believed I would be blogging about my experience with God.  However, here I am every Monday sharing what I have learned.

“. . . progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil.

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. Page 233:6

I love this quote, as it tells me that I cannot fail. There can never be anything in my path that I cannot handle. I can swim any lake, jump any hurdle, and fly over any mountain, with God’s help. He will see to it that I have whatever I need to make that happen. This has been true in my life ever since I found God. I have never been left wanting nor needing anything.

God is here for everyone, but we cannot demonstrate what we do not understand. When reading the Bible, I have learned that it is not so much the letter, but the spirit that speaks to me. The letter can be confusing. The Bible is not about misery and trauma; it is about how individuals rose above adverse situations when they turned to God, and survived.

In Genesis, it is written that man is made in God’s image and likeness, and some think that means he looks like us, He does not look like us. God’s image and likeness is spiritual, not material. When I discovered that, I could begin to understand Him.  In this week’s lesson, the word understanding comes up a lot. Understanding is the key to witnessing His creation here on earth. I am sure, understanding God completely would take more than a lifetime, but even with a little understanding, I have been able to demonstrate a change in my life for the better.

Through my little understanding of God, I discovered I had many abilities that I had not known I had. It improved my thinking processes, and I learned to judge things, not based on what I could see with my eyes and hear with my ears, but what I felt with my heart. With knowledge of God, nothing is impossible. When I allow Him into my life and listen for His guidance, He is the force behind all I think and do.

“And he (Jesus) was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.” Luke 22: 41-43

As I have mentioned before, I am not perfect, I continually need to nudge myself back on the path. I get distracted; by what I see and hear around me that runs contrary to what I am learning. Nevertheless, because of what I am learning, most of the time, I can quickly turn it around before they have any adverse effects. Occasionally it requires a little extra study before I get back on track.

When I wrote my book, someone told me that there was no market for that kind of book. I should have known better because I had read many books like mine during my affected years looking for help, but I started thinking that maybe I should forget about it. I got discouraged and almost gave up working on getting it published, which included building a following by blogging. Then it hit me, I was listening with my ears. If I wanted the truth, I had to listen for God’s guidance. If what I was doing were wrong He would let me know, and not through the censure of another human being. He would show me another path to take. Until that happens, I will continue happily along this path. I have learned not to let others affect my mood and happiness.

Jesus never let what others told him affect what he was doing. Even when told someone was dead and not to bother going, he went anyway, and through his understanding of Life and God, the individual sat up and spoke. In John 21:6, “And he (Jesus) said unto them, Cast the net (thought) on the right side (with God) of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” I believe he meant to change your thinking. As long as they believed they would catch no fish, their nets would be empty. When they understood that God provides for all his creation, and would never let them go without, their nets full.

When we see things, the way God sees His beloved creation, all things work together for good.  Jesus said, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:46.   God is the force behind His Son and all his creation, so trust Him and let Him guide you out of the darkness and into the light. 🙂 Life can be beautiful.

I’d like to add here that I’ve enjoyed blogging so much that if my book doesn’t get published I won’t be all that disappointed. I am delighted every time someone clicks on ‘like.’ Between my FB business page and followers on my website, I have 320 followers. That may not sound like much compared to others with thousands of followers but I feel likes it’s a million. I have had 19,450 hits, most since January. I cannot tell you how touched I am with all your responses. Thank you so much.

If you like what you read, do not forget to click on ‘share’ on my blog page and ‘like’ on either my regular FB page or my FB Business page. Sharing and liking along with following is what helps me get my book published. Have a great day…Michele
